Baby Art

No music post this time since today's post is about another favorite visual artist of mine, the second that appears here in Precession Of The Equinoxes(the first being Hans Ruedi Giger, here): mr.Trevor Brown.

Trevor Brown was born at London in 1959, studied art and worked as a graphic designer and a freelance illustrator until the mid 80's when he did the covers for a couple of Whitehouse albums(the legendary industrial/power electronics band),making him a cult icon to the underground industrial circles(since then he has also done covers for Coil, Venetian Snares, Jarboe etc).

In 1993 he moved to Japan, where(after working for some time in japanese sex magazines) he introduced his own artistic direction, calling it Baby Art: his drawing thematics-in a style pretty much inspired from japanese manga and japanese poular culture in general-include children or dolls in poses, activities and dressing styles that have to do with BDSM, violence and different kinds of paraphilia, making his works an intriguing combination of innocence and corruption.

Needless to say, he became quite famous there(of course, we are talking about Japan right?), but apart from that his reputation has spread in the rest of the world too, since his publications are being sold wordwide and he has also done exhibitions outside Japan(in Switzerland, Italy etc). However, his biggest fanbase continues to lie in the East.

In order to get a bigger taste of Trevor Brown's art, Precession Of The Equinoxes offers you the images(at least most of them) of his 2007 publication named Rubber Doll.

See it as a spring gift, since 21 March, the first day of spring(at least in the northern hemisphere) is quite close. So,soon you will be able to enjoy..
